What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My dog, Jasper.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy working with people and solving problems (when I can). A particular thrill is working with people who often join the business at quite a junior level and seeing them develop and grow both as professionals and people.
What challenges do you face?
I think we have always had a tough job but the last year or so, trying to deal with the twin challenges of COVID-19 and Cladding has been very difficult. I am really proud of the way our team has faced into these issues with determination, professionalism, optimism and resilience.
What made you pursue this career?
I haven’t the slightest idea.
Who inspires you?
Duncan and Matt. I’ve worked with them now for quite a while and they are scrupulously honest and reasonable to work for, and remain just as interested in the people who work for them and our customers as ever.
What are you most proud of?
Starting the office in Manchester from scratch was quite a challenge with no buildings and nobody in the North really knowing us. The growth to where we are now (almost a hundred buildings and an office of around 70 people) has been due to a lot of hard work by many people, but to be involved throughout is a source of pride.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I really enjoy cooking and reading, and have run four marathons (I wouldn’t say they were “enjoyable”).
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I am very much looking forward to watching the mighty Norwich City again in person and also using my Lancashire Cricket Club membership to watch some cricket at Old Trafford with a pint later this summer.
