At Rendall & Rittner, the health and wellbeing of all our people is a priority for us, as we look to support our people across four key pillars: mental, physical, social, and financial. Mental Health Awareness Week is a key event in our annual calendar designed to help overcome the stigma surrounding mental health, whilst also encouraging us all to prioritise our own mental health and that of those around us.
Organised by the Mental Health Foundation, this year’s theme is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health” highlighting the well proven connection between physical activity and mental health. Research shows that 56% of people found that exercising regularly helped them to alleviate stress and prevent burnout in their lives. To mark Mental Health Awareness Week this year we are therefore running a ‘Move it, Move it! Step Challenge’ to encourage our teams to get active. All this week, teams from across Rendall & Rittner will be competing to complete the highest number of steps whilst raising vital funds to support the work of our staff-chosen charity, MND Association.
We appreciate that it is important to consider mental health throughout the year, so we are also busy promoting a variety of resources available to our teams all year around. For example, our e-learning platform, Engage in Learning, features a variety of training sessions on related topics to help our teams as we continue building a fully inclusive and supportive working environment. We also have an expanded team of Mental Health First Aiders, trained to identify colleagues who may need help and support these colleagues in finding and accessing relevant resources.
We have also teamed up with Telus Health, the leading employee engagement and wellbeing programme, to offer support related to any work, health, or life issues. Providing a private and confidential 24/7 helpline, as well as specialist counselling and practical support, we are proud to be able to offer Telus Health to our employees and their immediate families free of charge. Other benefits include wellbeing assessments, online exercise classes and a variety of information blogs and podcasts.
