Vanessa Brandham, our newly promoted Health & Safety Director, joined Rendall & Rittner ten years ago. Here she explains how her role has evolved, and how health and safety has become a cornerstone of the business.

In early January, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) updated its Building Assessment Certification guidance and detailed the specific criteria being used when they are assessing safety case reports submitted as part of the Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) application.

We are delighted to announce that Rendall & Rittner has been awarded a Five Star accreditation in the British Safety Council audit for the sixth consecutive year. Securing an impressive score of 97.55% - an increase of over half a percentage point from last year - this achievement demonstrates our commitment to best practice in health and safety.

Our Health and Safety department has grown rapidly in recent times, partly due to the increase in work around the Building Safety Act regulations. The team now has 27 members who are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety around the developments that we manage.

Joe Leggett and Toyosi Mohammed have both recently joined the team as Senior Building Safety Co-ordinators working on building safety cases. Here we find out a bit more about their roles and how they got into working in the building safety sector.

The Building Safety Act is a very significant piece of legislation with wide-reaching implications across the residential property sector. The new rules and duties introduced under this act are focused on improving the safety of those people who live in the buildings.

Further showcasing our commitment to health and safety excellence, we have recently received a prestigious RoSPA Health and Safety Sector Award. Being highly commended in one of the 32 competitive industry sectors, demonstrates our unwavering commitment to continuous improvement which has seen us awarded a RoSPA Gold Award or higher (including highly commended and best in sector) every year since 2017.
